Quite a few people I know have taken part in this 30 Day Song Challenge on Facebook so I decided it would be fun if I participate as well. In addition to posting my selections on Facebook, I will update this blog post as I go along. This should be interesting.
For anyone else who wants to join in the fun, here are the categories for each day:
Day 01: Your favorite song
Edwin McCain – I’ll Be
Day 02: Your least favorite song
Queen – Bohemian Rhapsody
Day 03: A song that makes you happy
Alan Jackson – Little Bitty
Day 04: A song that makes you sad
Tim McGraw – Don’t Take The Girl
Day 05: A song that reminds you of someone
Vanessa Williams – Save The Best For Last
Jacquelyn and I picked this as our song when we first started dating, so of course I always think of her when I hear it.
Day 06: A song that reminds of you of somewhere
James Taylor – Carolina In My Mind
Day 07: A song that reminds you of a certain event
Alan Jackson – Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)
This song of course reminds me of 9/11. A simple but very powerful song.
Day 08: A song that you know all the words to
The Champs – Tequila
Because I’m terrible at remembering lyrics, this is probably the only song out there that I actually know all the words to.
Day 09: A song that you can dance to
DJ Sammy – Heaven (Candlelight Mix)
This was our first dance song at our wedding.
Day 10: A song that makes you fall asleep
Edward Bear – Close Your Eyes
Growing up I always went to sleep with the radio on, usually tuned to the Delilah Show. This is the song she plays every night when signing off.
Day 11: A song from your favorite band
Rascal Flatts – Life is a Highway
Day 12: A song from a band you hate
Slipknot – Psychosocial
Day 13: A song that is a guilty pleasure
John Williams – The Imperial March
Everyone must have known that Star Wars music would come into this eventually. It used to be all I listened to. I know, I’m such a geek!
Day 14: A song that no one would expect you to love
Nickelback – Savin’ Me
Day 15: A song that describes you
When a Man Loves a Woman – Percy Sledge
Day 16: A song that you used to love but now hate
The Beatles – Yellow Submarine
Day 17: A song that you hear often on the radio
Brad Paisley – This Is Country Music
Day 18: A song that you wish you heard on the radio
Edwin McCain – I Couldn’t Love You More
Edwin McCain is one of the most underrated artists, they should really play more of his music on the radio. This is one of his best songs and I’ve never heard it on the radio.
Day 19: A song from your favorite album
Edwin McCain – Say Anything
My favorite album is Edwin McCain: Scream & Whisper. The song I posted yesterday is also from this album.
Day 20: A song that you listen to when you’re angry
Rascal Flatts – Stand
Day 21: A song that you listen to when you’re happy
Zac Brown Band – Chicken Fried
Day 22: A song that you listen to when you’re sad
Gary Allan – Best I Ever Had
Such a sad song, became even sadder when I found out it’s about his wife who killed herself. Reminds me when I’m feeling down that things could be much worse.
Day 23: A song that you want to play at your wedding
Lee Brice – Love Like Crazy
If this song had been out five years ago, I would have loved to have it played at our wedding.
Day 24: A song that you want to play at your funeral
Faith Hill – There You’ll Be
Day 25: A song that makes you laugh
Brad Paisley – Online
Day 26: A song that you can play on an instrument
Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
I learned how to play this on the piano in middle school music class.
Day 27: A song that you wish you could play
The Eagles – Hotel California
I would love to be able to play the awesome guitar solo in this song. Too bad I can’t play the guitar.
Day 28: A song that makes you feel guilty
Martina McBride – Concrete Angel
Day 29: A song from your childhood
Lionel Richie – Dancing on the Ceiling
When I was little, when this song came on, my Dad would lift me up so I really could dance on the ceiling.
Day 30: Your favorite song at this time last year
Edwin McCain – I’ll Be
Same as this year
