I just picked up my copy of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2 Disc Special Edition of course). I’m pretty excited because, unlike a lot of people, I loved this movie! I thought Harrison Ford slipped right back into the character and I liked how they didn’t try to hide the fact that he’s aged 20 years. In fact they played off of it.
Me being a big sci-fi buff, I didn’t mind the science fiction elements in the movie that a lot of people thought were weird or out of place. First off, weird? I certainly don’t think alien skulls were any weirder than people’s faces being melted off in Raiders or someone’s heart being ripped out (and that person surviving) in Temple Of Doom. As for being out of place, this film takes place in a different era. The previous three films were based on action serials from an earlier time. This film take place in the 1950s, when stories about aliens and UFOs started becoming popular. So, I thought these elements worked just fine in the movie.
Finally, I think the film had some great action sequences. And I was just glad to see one of my all time favorite movie heroes return for a new adventure.
Anyway, that’s just my opinion.
And I liked the monkey scene too! 🙂
